Halliday's Australian Wine Companion 2011- **RESULTS JUST IN**
Punt Road Napoleone Vineyards Yarra Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2008
Bright purple; a fragrant, flowery bouquet of red and black berry fruits leads into an elegant, medium-bodied palate with crystal clear varietal fruit definition. Screwcap.
13% alc. Rating 94 Drink 2020
Punt Road Botrytis Semillon 2008
From a single, dedicated family grower in the Riverland, with a long association with Punt Road. While unambiguously sweet, and with classic marmalade/cumquat citrus flavours, it actually retains some finesse. Screwcap.
13.5% alc. Rating 93 Drink 2014
Punt Road Napoleone Vineyards Yarra Valley Chardonnay 2008
Bright straw-green; its vibrancy, freshness and apple and citrus-accented fruit all attest to early picking; the oak handling has been wholly appropriate, as you barely see it. Is there enough distinctive chardonnay in the bottle? Screwcap.
12.5% alc. Rating 92 Drink 2015
Punt Road Napoleone Vineyards Yarra Valley Pinot Noir 2008
Exceptional hue and clarity; very fresh red fruits and a twitch of mint lead the bouquet, the palate following suit; clear and tightly focused and will greatly benefit from a few years in bottle. Screwcap.
13% alc. Rating 92 Drink 2015
Punt Road Napoleone Vineyards Yarra Valley Shiraz 2008
Bright crimson-purple; fragrant spicy, pepper and red fruit aromas, the medium-bodied palate providing a replay, the finish long and fresh. Screwcap.
13.5% alc. Rating 92 Drink 2020
Punt Road Napoleone Vineyards Yarra Valley Viognier 2009
Bright straw-green; this delicious viognier goes close to treading the fine line between freshness and varietal anonymity on the one hand, and strong but phenolic and oily varietal expression on the other. It is more in the former than the latter, but you can detect varietal character. Screwcap.
13.5% alc. Rating 91 Drink 2013
